Wednesday 26th June - Grand Opening Day!
There were cold days in January and February when a June opening felt a million miles away, when it didn't seem that anything would be green again and a sunshiney day felt a very long way off.........
The day finally dawned and the weather was still a bit grey and dull at lunchtime, but after a few hours of planting, clipping, weeding, raking and stringing of bunting, the sun totally got it's act together.
Staff had baked biscuits, potted up cuttings, decorated the space and suddenly it all felt like a celebration.
Hundreds of parents and children, staff, governors, members of the Parent Teacher Association, volunteers from SAGE foundation and the Branch and Bone team.
A ceremonial cutting of the ribbon and the party begins!
A really fantastic day with the whole school community coming together to mark a new beginning for the outside space.
Here's to all the thinking, talking, planning, problem solving, collaboration, communication and creative thinking that the space will enable and develop!
